Garland has landed a major new apartment development to be built just east of the Telecom Corridor.

Irving-based developer JPI will build the 364-unit Jefferson Woodlands rental community on North Garland Avenue south of Bush Turnpike. The site is near the Spring Creek Forest Preserve and will overlook a small lake.
“We look forward to delivering a community that will provide the convenience of a beautiful home that is equally close to work as it is to nature,” JPI’s Matt Brendel said in a statement.

Construction will start immediately, with the first apartments opening in spring 2019. Apartments will range from 600 to almost 1,600 square feet.

Jefferson Woodlands will be less than 3 miles from Firewheel Town Center and east of the huge CityLine development, where over 10,000 employees work for State Farm Insurance and Raytheon.

“This development represents the next step in Garland’s evolution,” said Garland City Council member Scott LeMay. “Jefferson Woodlands will embody the best that Garland has to offer: sustainability, nature and commerce with a hometown feel.”

JPI is one of North Texas’ busiest apartment builders, with more than 3,800 rental units under construction. The developer has projects on the way in Irving, Farmers Branch, Frisco, Richardson and other local markets.
