New retail on the way near Dallas’ booming Love Field
Developers building the $320 million West Love project in North Dallas are ready to start the next phase.
The 37-acre mixed-use project is on Mockingbird Lane just west of Love Field. This month, developers are opening the first phase of West Love: a $49 million, 224-room Aloft and Element hotel.
Construction is underway on a 370-unit apartment community being built by developer JPI.
Now West Love’s owners have applied for building permits to build four restaurant and retail buildings that will line Mockingbird just west of Maple Avenue.
“We will be under construction this summer and will deliver to the various tenants in January and February of next year,” said Jorge Ramirez, managing principal with Mockingbird Venture Partners LLC.
The tenants will need about 90 days from then to open for business. “The four buildings are all located along Mockingbird with the first one being adjacent to the Aloft+Element hotel,” he said.
Developer KDC is seeking tenants for a 150,000- to 200,000-square-foot office building it plans to build next to the hotels and apartments. A second hotel tower is also planned.
West Love is the largest project to kick off in that area since the dramatic increase in traffic and renovations at nearby Love Field.
More than eight years ago, the developers bought and cleared the West Love development site between the airport and Stemmons Freeway.
